We usually measure our distance from spring in time
— a few weeks, a change of season.
Yet when these images were captured in May, spring had already arrived.
At the mountain’s base, cherry trees were in full bloom,
while its peak remained cloaked in snow.
At that moment, our distance from spring was defined not by time,
but by the height of the mountain.
