This book features a collection of my photographic works captured between 2020 and 2026. I chose the title “Boundary” because I realized that the images I create consistently hover between the concepts of “reality” and “imagery.” Is a photograph a vessel for recording reality, or a tool for expressing aesthetics and abstraction? I found it necessary to deconstruct this fundamental question.

Cameras extract visual information from the physical world to produce an image. However, through the act of viewing, this image merges with the viewer’s personal experiences and perceptions, forming what is known as a “mindscape.” In that fleeting moment, the image detaches itself from its inherent reality and transforms into a product of attached “imagery.” Yet, at other times, when I look at the same image, I feel the objects within the frame represent nothing but themselves, evoking a sense of presence that transports me back to a specific moment of existence. In those moments, the image makes me feel the pulse of reality.

What truly happens within the subconscious during the act of viewing? And where does the”boundary” that bridges these two realms originate? Looking back at the curation of these works, it seems to document my journey of wandering between reality and imagery—a process of searching for, and drawing as close as possible to, that elusive “Boundary.”
