《登陸東途》作品登陸香港最東端，探索被埋藏在東平洲的歷史。
月球的引力影響著潮汐，以太空人身分作聯想的登陸計劃，以潮汐現象為創作主軸，引用憩潮瞬間靜止及過渡狀態，詮釋香港持續受不同年代的人潮推湧，跟著浪潮流動。一些人會在浪濤中選擇停留；另一些人則會繼續流走。
兩位藝術家作為移港定居二代身份，討論其身份流動，並以香港七十至八十年代的偷渡潮進一步展示不同族群因生計或被邊緣化而出現的人口流動浪潮。
1997年，是英國將香港主權移交回中國的一年，政治局勢的緊張令香港出現新一浪移民潮。縱使已移居外地，負責養家的家庭成員仍會返回香港工作以賺取收入。當時社會以「太空人」形容不斷來往兩地的港人身分。
《登陸東途》在2020年開始創作，同一時間，因政治和社會制度的改變，新一浪的香港移民潮出現，至今約有30萬人已移居外。但近年開始亦有港人選擇回流本地。
作品由攝影、錄像與裝置組成，拍攝邊境荒蕪的東平洲、遊人滿佈的岸灘，拾取被遺下的棄置物。透過物證、小島和月球互相穿插，營造一個異度的視覺空間。
潮起潮落，「太空人」再度升空。
“Landing on the East” reaches Hong Kong’s easternmost point to investigate the buried history of Tung Ping Chau, the city’s most eastern island.
Just as the moon’s gravitational pull influences the tides, this ‘landing’ project—conceived through the metaphor of an astronaut—centres on tidal phenomena. Drawing on the momentary stillness and transitional states of the ebb and flow, it interprets how Hong Kong has continually been swept along by the tides of people across different eras, moving with the currents. Some choose to remain amidst the waves; others continue to drift away.
As second-generation immigrants to Hong Kong, the two artists explore the fluidity of their identities, using the wave of illegal immigration in Hong Kong during the 1970s and 1980s to further illustrate the population movements driven by economic necessity or marginalization.
1997 marked the year of the handover of Hong Kong’s sovereignty from the United Kingdom to China; the tense political climate triggered a new wave of emigration. Even after relocating abroad, family members responsible for supporting their households would return to Hong Kong to work and earn an income. At the time, society described the identity of Hong Kong people constantly travelling between the two places as ‘astronauts’.
Work on “Landing on the East” began in 2020. At the same time, a new wave of emigration from Hong Kong emerged due to changes in the political and social systems with approximately 300,000 people have relocating overseas. However, in recent years, some Hong Kong people have also begun choosing to return home.
The work comprises photography, video and installation, capturing the desolate Tung Ping Chau at the border and the beaches teeming with visitors, whilst collecting discarded objects left behind. Through the interweaving of material evidence, the small island and the moon, a visual space of a different dimension is created.
As the tides rise and fall, the ‘astronauts’ take to the skies once more.
