I realized that, in Chinese, the shape of the mouth when saying “I love you” looks like a bird slowly spreading its wings.
So I imagined—what if every “I love you” is a bird?
That’s why I placed a photo of a tree at the end of the book,
hoping that each “I love you” that takes flight
will have a place to land.
