Artist Annie Hsiao-Ching Wang meticulously selected and reassembled hundreds of thousands of family photos and personal digital archives spanning over fifty years to create a nearly 400-page autobiographical visual narrative. his is an honest and intimate account of life, delicately unfolding a woman’s feelings, reflections, questions, and resistance in her daily life, from childhood to old age.
The classic 1956 song “Que Sera, Sera” accompanied her through life’s uncertainties and sparked her ongoing questioning of fate and the situation of women: can women only exist by conforming to predetermined roles?
Entering middle age, she revisited her half-century-long visual record, from black and white photographs to digital images, breaking down the single linear narrative of time through deconstruction and reconstruction.
